While ‘slow and steady always wins the race’, sometimes projects have deadlines and you need to hustle to get it competed. Many people struggle with deadlines and with good reason. In today’s society it is easy to get behind or totally sidetracked when a project is looming overhead. Are there any ways to boost your own morale and speed up your performance on a project? If you are struggling getting things done, you are not alone; many people are in the same position. There are some simple steps that you can take to make sure you stay on task and finish on time; it involves taking actions, like:
2. Give It Attention-Once the project is laid out, begin working. If the project is due in 20 days, allow yourself at least one hour a day to work on it, estimated by approximately how long it will take. Don’t make excuses and push yourself to devote this hour to the project.
3. Aim For Quality-Some people mess with one page until they are frazzled. Get the pages in a good order and edit and proof at the end. Perfectionists often lose focus because they get hung up on the smallest of things. Aim for the finish line and don’t be detoured over something silly. Redo the page once, but don’t keep redoing the same page over and over again.
4. Stay In Focus-If it helps draw a road map to the projects start and completion and all the steps in between. Some people need help staying focused and seeing what has been accomplished can be of some benefit. Rather than being easily sidetracked by other things during the devoted time, turn off the cell phone, mute the radio and never have a television playing. The more distractions that are around, the harder and longer the project will take.
6. Bring in Backup-If you are in a position that you can have help if you need it, don’t be afraid to ask. Two minds are better than one and it is amazing what can be done when everyone works together.
Stop procrastinating about that big project, dive in headfirst. There is no easy way to tackle any project, but it can be done faster by staying on target.
